Fàilte!
Hello, I’m Donna. I live in Glasgow with my wife and our two fur babies, Callie our dog and George our cat. Although born and brought up in the north of Glasgow, my family hails from the Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles and so that connection forms very much part of my character to this day. We still have my father’s family home there and we go annually.
I am a fluent Gaelic speaker and have spent the last 23 years being a Chartered Gaelic Medium Primary Teacher in and around schools in Glasgow. I am passionate about Gaelic and take such pride in using the language. I have sung with different Gaelic choirs over the years and enjoy participating at the Royal National Mod.
I enjoy playing and watching football and I play in an all-inclusive five-a-side league each week.
I am currently training to become a driving instructor, and I am really enjoying teaching again in a different context.
I absolutely love Scotland and all things Scottish. Finding solace in the Scottish hills and countryside is where I find complete peace. I also play the bagpipes (badly, and less peaceful!) and tin whistle, and I love attending live music events, especially of the folk variety.
Of course, spending time with friends and family is when I am at my happiest, so dinner parties and socials are always given priority in the diary – life is just too short, and the gin needs drinking!
I was really pleased after successfully completing a course with CHA to become a wedding celebrant and I am proud to be part of an organisation which promotes kindness, fairness and equality. It is a huge privilege to be asked to carry out a wedding as is helping couples create a day and a ceremony that is unique and has them at the centre.
