Hello, I’m Margaret and I’ve been a celebrant with the Caledonian Humanist Association since October 2022.
I’m based in Glasgow and my passions are outdoor swimming, walking, cooking but most of all, I love reading, telling and listening to stories while drinking good coffee and eating cake.
I was brought up between the Gorbals and the East End of Glasgow. After meeting my husband in Edinburgh we got married in Puglia and for many years we lived between Italy and Scotland. I speak Italian at a proficient reading, writing and spoken level. My two daughters and three grandchildren keep me happy and busy. My background was in sales management before going back to university to do English and Theatre Studies. For the past 16 years I have been a teacher of drama in secondary schools. As a teacher of young adults I use my Humanist values to encourage kindness, morality and reinforce the need to emphasize their worth through creativity, optimism and open discussions.
Through my love of storytelling I am often asked to write or present the stories of others. It’s always inspiring, and such an honor, to be entrusted with such an important undertaking. Even in the darkest of days, when you start to recall the memories of a loved one, their light begins to shine through. A humanist ceremony supports you in putting your stamp on one of the most important days of your life, be it at the beginning, middle, or the end with you, the individual, at the center!
All of this leads me to you and your story. You are here because you want your day to be one of joy, which celebrates life and an important milestone for you. Your choice may be to have a short, simple ceremony with only a few close friends and family. Or you may wish to create a massive celebration of love and life, to be shared with the world, online. If you choose either of these, or something in the middle, I can help you create and tell your story, on your day, your way.
If you feel I am the right person for you then let’s have a chat. I will help you through the process of creating your bespoke ceremony right through to your unique event.
We could even do it in rhyme, if that’s your thing, anything is possible!
I do love a rhyming couplet!
Today you’ve come to begin your story
To be shared on a day of wondrous glory
In front of your friends and family dear
With love, laughter and…
of course…
Cheers!
Everyone has a unique story to tell and yours will be magical!
Let me help you tell your story!
Margaret
